I am sorry to say that I have decided to end this project early.
Initially, I had been attracted by the game's sandbox feature that lets players shape the world as they like.
Unfortunately, as time went by, I found that the in-game rewards (XP, loot, currency) were getting less. As such, I had to grind longer in order to get the same satisfaction of receiving in-game rewards. I began to feel lazy, especially when there are other games out there that offered more satisfaction (for less work).
In addition to that, I discovered that there are selfish people. There are people who harvest resources from the ecosystem without replenishing them. If it were not for the Disobedience law, the ecosystem would have been a total mess.
The selfishness is to an extent that I feel less motivated to be charitable. If I planted a field, it was very likely that the field would not be there when I returned later to harvest. As such, I am only motivated to fulfill the barest minimum of my responsibility. That is, I would find a field that has been planted, work with it, and when I am done, I would replant it the way I had found it.
There was no motivation to go beyond that.
But I did meet interesting people with interesting philosophies and outlook on life (details in the interviews on this blog). I learned more about life, not just in-game life, but life in general from chatting with them.
Perhaps this is the best part of the game: meeting other people and learning from them.
